eBay Listing Service : Make Managing Your Auctions Easy

Do you want to have a lot of auctions going but don’t have time to keep track of them all? Trust me, you’re not alone. With more and more people making significant portions - if not all - of their income from their eBay auction websites the need has arisen for many people to have someone manage the listing of their auctions for them.

Enter eBay listing services. With these convenient services, you don’t need to spend all your valuable time listing many repeat auctions. eBay’s listing services will automate all the repeat listings of online auctions so that you can concentrate on running your business and keeping your customers happy, and spend less time on repetitive chores.

eBay has lots of easy to use auction management software. One of the best ones for managing repeat online auctions is eBay’s Turbo Lister. What this program does is keep track of multiple auctions at once, using a program that looks a lot like Windows Explorer, so experienced Windows users will have no trouble adapting to it.

Using an easy-to-understand WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) user interface, Turbo Lister enables you to keep track of literally hundreds (or even thousands) of auctions at the drop of a hat. The best part? This program is completely FREE to registered eBay users!

What Are Some Other Helpful eBay Services?

eBay provides many helpful listing services to both experienced and novice, small and high volume sellers to help them keep track of their auctions, no matter how much or how little they happen to be selling. For low volume sellers, eBay’s basic listing form is very easy to use - you don’t need to be a computer expert to use it.

For sellers who sell the same items repeatedly, eBay provides their “Turbo Lister” to help you with your online auction management. And for higher volume sellers, eBay offers their Selling Manager and Blackthorne listing services.

eBay After Sales - as Important as the Listing Itself

Your eBay listing has finished and you have made a sale, now the next important stage starts - the after sales. Again we are aiming to develop the professional image or ourselves in the customers eyes to encourage them to come back to us again and again because it is easier to sell to a current customer than it is to a new customer.

eBay after sales is almost 100% email based, apart from very rare occasions, and you need to set up a process whereby you can accurately monitor the stage of after sales that each customer is at. This is very easy in the early stage with not many auctions but when you start to develop as an eBay seller it needs to become very organised.

eBay start this process off for you, they email you (and the seller) to confirm the sale and provide you with the contact details so you can start your after sales process. Always send a reminder email as sometimes, due to the number of fraudulent eBay emails that are around, the buyer never actually opens the original email.

Again eBay provides this functionality by means of allowing you to send an invoice using the eBay system, always include a copy to yourself (a simple tick box) if you plan to use this method so that you have a record of the email and can use it for your records. I would recommend however that you actually send an email using your own email provider as it forms the basis for developing a customer relationship.

The email you send should include the following:

A short thank you for using your auctions and a congratulations on them winning.

Then the item specifics:

Item Purchased, Final Price, Shipping Price, Total Price Due (final plus shipping), Payment Methods Accepted (also indicated in the listing), Payment Time Frame, Mailing Address for Payment
and a link to your feedback page so that you can encourage the buyer to leave feedback.

It is also advisable to provide another email address so that they can contact you if they experience any difficulties using the original and of course always include a link to your own web site (if you have one, if not get one!). It works along the same lines as the eBay about me page method.

I have a draft copy of the contact email saved so I do not need to keep retyping it out, all I do is change the customer specific information and send it.

The customer then sends you your payment and the final stage of the after sales process begins…. Post and Packing.

Don’t Sell Grandma’s Jewelry at a Yard Sale…Get More Money

Have some vintage jewelry? There are several ways you can sell collectible or vintage costume jewelry. How much your vintage jewelry is worth depends on several things. First and foremost, you need to know what you have and the condition it is in. Refer to our first article for helpful tips on old jewelry research. You may consider taking your jewelry to a dealer. If so, first you need to find a dealer, preferably one with experience in old jewelry. Look in your local phone book and get on the phone. Investing time by calling ahead and talking to them will give some idea on who you are dealing with and how comfortable you will be. Don’t expect appraisals over the phone, a dealer usually needs to see and touch it. Here are some other things you should know about dealers:

Dealers

When taking your jewelry to a local dealer, keep in mind there are important considerations about dealers:

1. Be respectful of their time and knowledge.

If you are only interested in information and not planning on selling your vintage jewelry, tell them upfront (ideally on the phone). Offer to pay them for an hour of their time. Some will politely refuse compensation, others will charge you a nominal fee. It depends on the individual. Remember, they have most likely spent years collecting knowledge and expertise. And sadly, too many people expect them to “share” that information openly. Good manners and building relationships will reap far more rewards for you in the long run!

2. Dealers seldom pay more than 30% of market value.

An honest dealer is going to give you a fair appraisal, they are not trying to take advantage of you. Remember, not only do they have business costs but they are taking risks too. It may not sell right away, it may not sell for a long time. It may not sell at all. They are often more willing to give you more if they think it will sell quickly. Retail must “turn” their inventory within certain amounts of time to stay profitable. Consider you own expectations. Know who you are dealing with and the reputation of their shop; if you can’t agree on a price, don’t sell your vintage jewelry or ask about consignment options. Consignment can be a “win-win” arrangement for all. The dealer limits their risks and you get closer to the price you want.

3. Take notes.

Even if you only bring in one piece of jewelry, you are probably not going to remember everything you learn. It’s ok to jot down information and ask questions.

4. Have fun!

Researching old vintage jewelry can be fascinating! You never know what you may find out and it’s quite possible you just may be hooked for life!

Keywords Will Bring You More Consumers

Recently I had the unique opportunity to design my small businesses website. I didn’t want to spend a lot of revenue on the project because I cannot afford to forgo any profits right so I included my business information on the site and was done with it. It felt more like an obligatory project then something that will help my business grow.

To be honest, I didn’t see much activity after the initiation of the site and I had to wonder why. However, I accept that I am not an expert I realized there were probably some things I could have improved so I sought the advice of some website advisors. I was surprised at their feedback but glad to receive it. Based on their opinion, I had spent so much time and effort on the appearance of the site but very little on the keyword research that would link consumers back to my site.

After getting my site updated, I did see more traffic on the site and have seen my business activity increase. I can definitely see the difference between using effective keywords and not. If someone has a small business I would definitely suggest taking a better look at their website.

How Can You Defeat Ebay Snipers?

October 13th, 2008 October 13th, 2008

If you’re bidding for items on eBay, sooner or later you’ll end up having your bid beaten at the very last second by a “sniper”. This can be a frustrating experience. In theory sniping is against the rules and you can report it to eBay. In practice, however, they never do anything about it.

The best way to beat the sniper is to become the sniper. Once you understand the process of sniping, you can use it to win more auctions, more often, and at a lower price than you would otherwise pay.

Sniping Manually

If you have a lot of time to spare and a reasonably fast Internet connection, sniping manually is not all that difficult. Make a note of the time when the auction you are bidding on will end. Then make sure you’re sitting in front of the page at that vital last minute. Then just outbid the current winning bidder, or defend your own winning bid.

Here’s a valuable tip to remember for manual sniping: make sure you set your maximum bid quite high. Otherwise you risk being automatically outbid, and the auction will have ended before you can bid again.

It’s not worth your time to compete against someone who is using an automated sniping service. If their service is any good, they will always manage to outbid you. In the sniping arms race, you need to find a sniper on full auto.

Sniping In The Age Of Automation

If you enter “ebay sniping” into your favorite search engine, you’ll find a long list of online services that will snipe on your behalf for a small fee. They usually offer a free trial, so give it a go.

If you don’t want to pay each time for an online service, then you can buy sniping software outright — for example, SnipeRight or ISnipeIt (just add a “.com” to the name to find them on the internet). You pay once and use them as much as you want.

After you’ve installed the software on your computer, you tell it which auctions you want sniped and the maximum amount you’re willing to pay. The software then places your bid in the last few seconds of bidding. One drawback to this method is that you need to be able to leave your computer on nearly all the time, or you might miss the end of some auctions.

An Alternative To Sniping

If you’re reluctant to lower yourself to “playing dirty,” then there is another, more low-tech way to get around sniping. You can just email the seller and say that you were sniped at the last minute, but would really like the item. If they have another unit to sell, chances are they’ll agree to sell it to you for the price at which the auction closed.

Good luck, good sniping, and good shopping.

An Easy Guide To Making Money On Ebay

One way to make money on eBay that a lot of sellers underestimate is by making money on returns. Items get returned to almost every seller eventually as it’s impossible to satisfy all of the buyers all of the time. By turning your returns into profits you can make money on eBay without simply selling your items.

If you are going to make money on eBay from your returns then it is important not to refund shipping charges. You will probably make money on eBay from your shipping charges anyway if you are using cheaper materials and have a standard shipping cost for items, regardless of their weight. If you just refund the charge of the returned items but not the shipping then you are going to make money on eBay because you will be able to charge the same shipping cost to another buyer who bids on the returned item when you relist it. As you have already made a profit from the shipping charge the first time, you are going to double that profit the second time you ship the item and be able to make money on eBay from your returns that from your original listing.

To help you make even more money on your returned items you can charge a restocking fee. This is not something that buyers particularly like and it may lead to negative feedback but you are within your rights to charge a restocking fee and it is a surefire way to make money on eBay from your returns. It would be advisable to only charge a restocking fee on more expensive or bulky items to lessen the chance of receiving bad feedback which will have a negative impact on your chances to make money from eBay by reducing your sales.

If you have an item returned then the best way to make money on eBay is, of course, to list it in another auction. However, it is important to take note of the reason for the return to ensure that it does not happen the second time and make it impossible for you to make money on eBay from selling the item as it keeps getting returned. If the item was returned because it was not what the buyer expected then you have to make sure that you write your description more clearly the second time around to maximise your chances of having a satisfied buyer and being able to make money on eBay that you intended to in the first place.

Paying For Items With Ebay Coupons

There’s a novel idea afoot nowadays: Using electronic discount coupons to pay for items people are interested in purchasing.

This only goes to show that most good marketing ideas can be adopted for the internet. Instead of cutting coupons out from newspapers or carton boxes, eBay gives out electronic copies of coupons to purchase merchandise. The coupons are fast and easy to use.

Coupons are routinely sent by eBay to members who then use them to pay for items through PayPal. The coupons signify specific discounts that can be applied to the purchase of items.

Using Coupons

To use an eBay Coupon one must buy an item where the seller accepts PayPal as a payment method. Upon payment of the item using PayPal, an opportunity will be given to the buyer to enter a coupon redemption code and receive the discount.

Sharing Coupons

Some coupons from eBay can be shared with other people while some can only be used by the owner. If the coupon indicates that only a specific email address may use the coupon, it may not be shared.

Coupons and Your eBay and PayPal Accounts

To use the coupons the owner must have a PayPay and an eBay account. If the owner does not have these accounts, he or she must sign up for them to avail of the discounts. PayPal lets you pay securely over the Internet using a credit card, checking account, or a PayPal account balance.

Important Restrictions

Upon winning an eBay auction, the bidder is required to purchase the item even if the coupons they are holding turn out to be invalid for the auction.

Also, coupons can only be used one-at-a-time. This means that Gift Certificates, single coupons, or eBay Anything Points are valid for only one auction and only one type can be used each time.

One more restriction is that the coupons cannot be used for Half.com purchases.

Items must also meet all coupon requirements and must be paid for in ten days from the closing of the auction on eBay.

Coupons have expiry dates. Coupon holders should take note of the expiry dates noted on the coupons.

Sellers may also configure their listings to accept coupons. To accomplish this, the seller must accept PayPal as a payment mode. If a coupon is used in the purchase of one of the seller’s items, the value of the coupon is forwarded to the seller as it’s equivalent in regular currency.
