Living for most of childhood and adolescence in Pennsylvania, Stephen attended school in suburban Philadelphia. When he finished high school Stephen decided on undergraduate study at Yale University. He then chose a program of post graduate study at the internationally esteemed Harvard Business school near Boston, MA. After concluding his MBA, Stephen started a career in investment banking at Lehman Brothers. He was appointed to the boards at the extremely young age of only 31.
Stephen Schwarzman donates to a range of educational programs as well as teaching as an adjunct professor at the renowned Yale School of Management. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan. On top of all that, Stephen recently presented to the New York Public Library $100,000,000 to fund their recent building plans. Stephen is also one of the trustees of the library. And so, American high society looks at Stephen Schwarzman as a role model: Times Magazine in 2008 named Stephen as one of the 100 most influential people on the planet. His domination of the business and financial communities has been miraculous, and coupled with his willingness to donate to his own community as illustrated by his generous donations to the arts and education programs stimulates those who are inspired by him.
