Ebay tips. Part 1 Please remember this is only a small amount of info that is shown in our EBAY VIDEO TUTORIAL
This can be viewed at www.onlineebooks.net

Do you know what one of the biggest money makers on ebay is?
Do you know that is has nothing to do with the auction you are selling?

That’s right, can you think of it?
The answer is the about me page, that’s right. Let me say it again,
The About Me Page.

This one page is the key to making alot of extra money from ebay.
Every visitor to your auction is a customer. They come to your
auction, have a look at it, then they decide if it interests them, then they either
buy it or leave. Why not try to sell the visitor that is not interested in your item,
an item that they are interested in.
Now the best way to do this is to use the about me page.

The key is getting the visitor to the about me page, if they don’t want the item.
How are you going to do that ?
Ask yourself this: What is the best price for something ?
What is the number one clicked on advertising word ?
The answer is FREE. The best price for anything is FREE.

So how do you use this for the about me page.
Well the first thing you have on your auction is a little headline or statement
basically saying “Just for taking a look at our auction we are giving away …..
Click here to find out how to receive it” . Then have the link to your about me page.
This in my experience is the best way to getting traffic to your about me page.

Once you have the visitor on your about me page what do you do with them ?

Once they are on the page you are basically trying to sell them something more,
or get them to go to your web site for a different product.

How are you going to get them to read your add if they are looking for the free
product ?

A good way of doing this is have the free product at the bottom of the page with
a statement at the top stating “To get your free … please scroll down to the bottom
of the page”. This way they have to scroll past the ads and graphics and hopefully
something will grab there attention.

So let say the visitor doesn’t buy your auction , doesn’t go for your other products on your
about me page and just downloads the free product.
So what dp you have in return for all your work?
Nothing right ? No money, no sale……………… or do you have something ?

If you set it up correctly you will have something. Something that could be worth
alot of money. There email address !!!!!

In the video we go threw how you set this up so that it is fully automated.

How To Cash In on Weird Auctions on eBay

June 8th, 2009 June 8th, 2009

Until recently, online auction sites such as eBay have been the usual marketplace for bargain hunters and thrift shoppers looking for cheap used or surplus products. But a new breed of sellers are now coming up with very unusual auctions on eBay.

Encouraged in part by the recent purchase by online casino GoldenPalace of a grilled cheese sandwich that has the image of Virgin Mary for $15,000 and on the tummy of a pregnant woman, sellers have started taking a second look at eBay’s Everything Else category, especially in the subcategories of Advertising Opportunities and Weird Stuff.

And not a few have been successful. Just last August 23, 2005, the casino paid $18,000 to shave a woman’s head and permanently tattoo the website of the popular online poker room, on her bare cranium.

The eBay seller, Molly Demers, will be wearing the casino’s brand on the top and back of her bald head for one year.

Before her, a woman from Utah now known as “ForeheadGoldie” on eBay, was paid $10,000 to permanently tattoo their website address on a her forehead. Using eBay’s “Buy It Now” option, GoldenPalace won the privilege of placing a permanent ad tattoo on Karolyne Smith’s forehead, making her the first female to have the casino’s brand mark her for life.

And then there are such queer items such dead flies, tushy-shaped apple, haunted items and change-my-name auctions that have been bought for outrageous prices
by lesser-known buyers who are also out to make news for themselves.

These weird auction have been made more popular by websites that have sprouted like mushrooms to feature these auctions, hoping to cash in on the revenue potentual fron sellers’ advertisements and eBay affiliate commissions. Even some humor websites have opened up auction pages to ride the bandwagon.

HOW YOU CAN BENEFIT

If you have an online business or a website, this would be the right time to look into these weird auctions and see how you can benefit. Here are some ideas:

* If you are an eBay member, listing a weird auction and having it featured by sites such as BuyWeird.com or WeirdBids.com would drive traffic to your other “usual” items. This is now a strategy used by some eBay stores who see the traffic potential of these weird auctions.

I have seen sales of some eBay members skyrocket as a benefit from the number of people viewing their weird auctions, who got curious and looked at their items too.

* You may join eBay and get free promotion by bidding on these weird items. Your name shows up on the frontpage if you are the highest bidder, on the Bid History if you get outbidded. Curious viewers will then check out your own About Me page where you can say something about your business.

* Put up an auction-related website and then contact the sellers of these auctions so they will mention your site in exchange for free advertising. Take advantage of eBay’s affiliate program and possibilities of direct advertising on your site. But before you do this, make sure you offer value services on your site to keep your traffic going.

The possibilities are endless. You don’t even have to sell on eBay to benefit from weird auctions.

What You Need To Know Before You Get Started On Ebay.

So you’ve decided that you want to get started as a seller on eBay. There are a few things that you really need to know before you go and throw yourself in at the deep end.

What to Sell.

First off, you need to know what it is you’re going to sell: what’s your speciality? You’ll do far better on eBay if you become a great source for certain kind of products, as people who are interested in those products will come back to you again and again. You won’t get any loyalty or real reputation if you just sell rubbish at random.

When you think about what to sell, there are a few things to consider. The most important of these is to always sell what you know. If you try to sell something that you just don’t know anything about then you’ll never write a good description and sell it for a good price.

You might think you’re not especially interested in anything, but if you think about what kind of things you usually buy and which websites you go to most often, I’m sure you’ll discover some kind of interest. If all else fails mention it to your friends and family: they’ll almost certainly say “Oh, well why don’t you sell…”, and you’ll slap your forehead.

Out of the things you know enough about, you should then consider which things you could actually get for a good enough price to resell, and how suitable they would be for posting. If you can think of something of that you’re knowledgeable about and it’s small and light enough for postage to be relatively cheap, then that’s great!

Don’t worry if you think the thing you’re selling is too obscure - it isn’t. There’s a market for almost everything on eBay, even things that wouldn’t sell once in a year if you stocked them in a shop. You’ll probably do even better if you fill a niche than if you sell something common.

Tax and Legal Matters.

If you earn enough money, you should be aware that you’re going to have to start paying tax - this won’t be done for you. If you decide to sell on eBay on a full-time basis, you should probably register as a business.

Prepare Yourself.

There are going to be ups and downs when you sell on eBay. Don’t pack it in if something goes a little wrong in your first few sales: the sellers who are successful on eBay are the ones who enjoy it, and stick at it whatever happens.

Anyone can sell on eBay, if they believe in themselves - and if you do decide it’s not for you, then the start-up costs are so low that you won’t really have lost anything.

If you’re ready to start selling, then the next thing you need to know is the different auction types, so you can decide which ones you will use to sell your items. Our next email will give you a guide.

Turn Your Ebay About Me Page Into A Cash Cow.

If eBay’s figures are to believed only 6% of eBay sellers use the About Me page facility. If anyone doubts the effectiveness of an About Me page it is worth noting that over 30% of Power Sellers have one.

There are three ways that any seller can benefit from using this facility. First of all it is the only place on eBay where a seller can advertise theirs or anyone else’s web site. This can be a powerful way of directing traffic to your site, especially if your site is related to the niche or group of products that you are selling on eBay.

Even if you do not have a web site of your own you can generate income by directing visitors to an affiliate program that you have signed up for. You can actually place up to 3 links on your page so you could have one pointing towards your own web site and the other two to affiliate programs.

As well as providing links the main purpose of an About Me page is for you to tell potential bidders something about yourself and your business. It is a fact that most people prefer doing business with someone they know rather than a faceless stranger.
The About Me page gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself and you can even include photographs of yourself and your family.

You can also add either a complete list of the other items you have for sale on eBay or a list of your recent feedbacks and comments. These can help to inspire confidence, in bidders. If you do not already have an About Me page then you really should start thinking about getting one. There is no reason why you should not, eBay provide a very simple step-by-step tool to build your page. It’s easy there are no technical skills required. All you have to do is select a layout, add your information and then preview and save your page. When you’re finished, eBay will send you the Web site address (URL) to share with your friends.

Once you have built your and uploaded your page eBay will place an “me” icon next to your ID. However, do not just rely on this alone to get visitors to your About Me page. You should include a mention or link to your About Me page in all your listings. A sentence such as “To find out more about this seller visit their About Me page” or if you are familiar with HTML you could add an actual Click Here link.

If you are one of the 94% of sellers who are not currently using this free facility you are missing a golden opportunity to boost your online income. Don’t waste nay more time, go and check it out now.

How To Create An eBay Sales Page

How To Create An eBay Sales Page

Writing a sales page is one of the most important things you will do for your eBay auctions - especially if there are many different sellers selling similar items. You have to write a sales page that makes the buyers want to bid on your item, instead of your competitor’s items!

There are many different elements to a winning sales page.

A winning sales page starts with an outstanding headline.

The headline must stand out so that it will be noticed when bidders search for particular items. The headline must mention the item that you are selling, but there needs to be more information than that. For eBay, this will be the title of your auction, and when a person looks for a specific item in your category, that title will appear in the search results. Make sure it catches their attention!

The rest of your sales page is written by filling out the form that sets up the auction for eBay.

Again, you want to encourage the bidder to place bids or to buy now. You should outline the features of the item that you are selling, using words that capture the attention of the bidder, and even words that pull them emotionally. For instance, if you are selling an heirloom item, you may want to give some history of the item - information that makes the item even more valuable to potential bidders.

It is important to tell the bidders how they will benefit from the item should they win the bid. Again, this serves to make the item more valuable and desirable to the bidder. What will the buyer get out of it?

The end of your sales page should ensure the bidder that if there is a problem with the item you will offer a money back guarantee.

If you do this, it is vitally important that you do indeed honor your guarantee. Guarantees are generally reserved for new items. Old items are usually sold ‘as is’ with no refunds offered. However, eBay requires you to accurately describe your item, and they require that the item arrive at the buyers address in the condition that you described. If it does not, you are obligated to refund the money that the buyer paid for the item.

Without putting down other sellers or their products specifically, you need to tell the potential bidders and buyers why they should bid on your item, as opposed to bidding on other auctions for similar items.

There is a fine line here that you cannot cross - putting down other sellers in a public way simply is not to be done! But at the same time, you must let the buyer know why they should choose your auction. Again, this is done by listing benefits and features, and by letting the buyer know that you will honor any money back guarantees you may have.

Adding a good picture of the item to the sales page is recommended.

People want to see what they are buying, and many bidders will by-pass auctions that do not include photographs of the items. Make sure your picture is clear and shows your item in its best light, and add a link to view other pictures of the item as well.

Remember, you are trying to sell something with your eBay sales page.

Use words that will draw the attention of the buyer and make them want your item more than anything else in life! Dress up your words in a way that makes your items more attractive. For instance, instead of saying that you have ‘an old beat up record player’ for sale, you might say that you have a ‘well loved record player.

Successful eBay selling is all about choosing items that people want, and using the right words in the sales page to make the buyer want the item even more!

eBay-Your International Marketplace

Harness the presence of eBay throughout the world to increase your sales or find new bargains. A lot of sellers on eBay tend to trade within their comfort zones without realising the potential of expanding global markets. Whilst it its true that for some sellers it is simply not practical, in shipping terms, to target international markets - for many it is an opportunity missed.

For buyers the sheer scale of items available makes international purchases an attractive proposition. On any given day there are thousands of items listed worldwide by the over 169 million eBay users across 33 markets.

Obviously when considering venturing into international markets a lot of questions will be raised and here are a few of the top points for consideration:

  • Payment
Quick & secure payment is the top concern for most eBay sellers and when the buyer is many thousands of miles away this is never more true. Whilst it may not be everyone’s favourite payment processor Paypal has enabled international trade on a scale never before envisaged. There are other methods of payment but very few if any have the instant recognition that Paypal has accumulated over the years.

  • Shipping
Costs to ship to other countries can vary greatly depending on the distance, shipping method and the item being sent. It is avisable when creating a listing to present the shipping information so that prospective buyers can see the total cost upfront and can therefore make an instant decision. It is worth remembering when selling an item into an overseas market that the buyer may well have to pay additional duties/taxes or Customs clearance fees. You should always ensure that shipments sent by you are insured and the ability to track your consignment will enable you to provide proof of delivery should there be a dispute with the buyer.

  • Taxes & Custom Duties
It is normal practice for buyers to pay for any taxes or duties that may arise and this together with the cost of shipping should be taken into consideration when bidding. In the UK you may find that the HM Revenue & Customs website is helpful when trying to work out what the charges may be. Similarly residents of the US may want to review the Customs & Border Protection website.

Each country will have different tariffs depending on the type of item and by doing a little research you can avoid purchases that become uneconomical by the time they arrive at your door.

  • Local Laws/Regulations
When considering selling items internationally it is crucial that you ensure the transaction is lawful in the countries of both the buyer & seller. eBay specifically prohibits sales that contravene the local laws of either party - educating yourself about the pertinent laws prior to sale will avoid problems later. You may find further assistance available by contacting your courier of choice who should be able to provide information regarding the paperwork needed for shipping and any restrictions applicable. It is advisable that sellers visit the eBay sites that they intend to trade on for specific details as to what that particular site considers a restricted item.

Whilst it can certainly be daunting to make the initial foray onto the world market you can guarantee that if you don’t take advantage of the opportunity your competitors most certainly will!

  • How EBay Plans to Quickly Improve on PayPal’s Bottom Line

    May 21st, 2009 May 21st, 2009

    Comments Off

Recently eBay announced plans to buy VeriSign’s payment processing business for $370 million and merge the processor with PayPal’s operations. PayPal is already the largest online payment company; however, VeriSign’s processor would make for a profitable asset, by enabling PayPal to compete with credit card companies known for raising retailer fees. The merge will also help take PayPal beyond its core auction-based business to now tackle small and medium-sized businesses.

VeriSign’s payment gateway software creates a direct connection between web businesses and payment processors. These processors are generally run by major banks, therefore cutting out the credit card business. The addition is expected to add $100 million to PayPal’s top line in 2006.

As part of the deal, eBay will also purchase up to 1 million VeriSign security tokens. Each token has constantly changing numbers that need to coincide with a synchronized central server. These tokens can be embedded in computers and other devices that along with a password, create a two-factor authentication system.

Security has always been a costly issue for PayPal as they require a large team to deal with fraud.

This merger is a huge step forward for PayPal. This shift will allow PayPal to process a greater number of transactions through banks rather than credit cards and work with more businesses than individual sellers. This in turn will lead to less credit card fees and potentially a lesser percentage of fraudulent sellers by working with registered business owners.

    EBay Business 101 for Newbies

Are you fairly new to eBay business? Or is just planning to enter the world of eBay business and test its waters? You have nothing to fear. Here are simple startup tips for you, newbie.

Entering the eBay business means that you are setting up shop on eBay and become a seller. It is easy and risk-free. All you need to have is a computer, an internet connection and an inventory of items to sell. No startup costs are expected of you. Even if you’re at home, you can monitor your eBay business easily enough. You can also do marketing online, right within eBay.

Starting out As a newbie seller, you have a fairly good chance of succeeding in the eBay business by starting out with items that you know and have experience with. Take it from the experts, when you start with products you are knowledgeable about, you are right on target regarding its value.

However, if the items you are supposed to start with do not fall in the line of your expertise, there’s no cause for worry. You only have to research about the items you have to know their value.

There might be several odds and ends in your house that are fairly in good condition but not needed anymore. Or you might know of family and friends who have possessions they want to get rid of. You can also buy discounted products, seasonal and specialized items and crafts then resell them. The eBay business has no limit on what products you could sell, as long as there are buyers interested.

Have a photo, make a sale Once you have set-up shop in the eBay business, start the ball rolling by letting customers know of your merchandise. Do this by taking pictures of the products you are putting up for sale. The photo alongside your item listing is free. A 35-cent paid photo post of your product is offered by eBay - a scheme called Gallery. It works by having a thumbnail photo of your product along with its listing on the search results.

Be aware that most customers in the eBay business prefer to see the photo of the product for sale. Most often, your listing will get hits largely because of photo attachments. People need to know they are buying something that exists. You may find that once you upload more photos for each of your product listing, the demand for your products increases. Close-up and high-quality photos of your products are likely to bring you great sales outcome.

Price ‘em right Upon seeing your product, the next thing potential buyers on the eBay business look up is the price. Note that in the eBay business, it is necessary to remind you not price your item too high, or else buyers may lose interest. With a reasonable starting price, you only need to have two bidders to set off a higher price.

The principle in the eBay business, with regards to setting up the starting price, is that the lower you set the price, the more potential buyers bid on it. You can even get them so attached to the item and inspire a need to be the bidder who gets the item.

For how long do you list up your product? As a seller, listing a product in the eBay business involves meeting qualifications to use one-day period listing and paying necessary fees for 10-day listings. There are several factors to know how long you should list an item in the eBay business: - Longer period listing gives potential buyers more time to see your item and place bids - Listing depending on your selling volume. - Limited period of listing if you are selling products related to certain events

Other things which sellers in the eBay business need to do to generate more profits: - Regularly checking out the hit list for your items to know if you are getting more traffic. More traffic means more buyers. - Have a detailed product description on your listing to minimize numerous buyer inquiries - Proper handling of payment and shipping. Be aware that 3 out of 4 buyers on the eBay business prefer paying with PayPal. - Keep your buyers, happy and satisfied with your products and overall service. - Lastly, keep tabs on other eBay sellers’ experiences in the eBay business for you to learn and succeed.

  • Online Article Auctions; Online Article Submission Sites and Possible Futures?

The world of innovation is interesting indeed. We see innovation in so many industries and market sectors, as it seems there is no end in sight to what possible futures lie ahead. Indeed one interesting new trend on the Internet is the Online Article Submission Websites. And a battle is brewing over Amateurs and Professional Writers as to whom is better?

Well few would disagree that a professional writer with 20-years experience is a better writer right? Indeed, but some do and do not believe that an old-timer writer is necessarily better, but they should be. Some online article authors are total amateurs, but their writing is also quite good.

Now then many professional writers are now complaining that the amateur authors who post free articles on online article submission websites are breaking the backs of professional writers who cannot sell their writing due to the flooding of the market of free articles. Yet is it really the amateurs and the online article submission sites that they are filling a void in the marketplace?

If online article submission websites wish to cater to professional writers more, then perhaps they might open an online auction clearing house for what is posted on this site and highest bidder wins. Writers get paid, everyone is happy. But surely that will drive supply up and demand will show the true price points of the market place which will be downward albeit with a slight upward bias hedge due to the competitive bidding factor in auctions. Competitive psychology 101, predicts this. Consider this truth as well.
